Install Platino Engine and Platino Studio, which let you to make cross platform mobile games and apps for iOS and Android using JavaScript, are installed.

There are links below to download Platino as well as Xcode, the Android SDK and both the official Platino Twitter, and my own Twitter account*.

*Disclaimer: I tweet 40% developer content, 20% trying to convince people I am definitely a responsible adult, 20% retweets, 10% music I get into while coding, 7% photos of my car and 3% promoting Carlos 😉 (Some things never change.)

So! Check it out. It’s all pretty straight forward, but if you are brand new to development, or for those of you coming from Corona who haven’t used other platforms yet, it should help you not panic when the terminal opens. (You only need to enter your password, nothing else.)

Downloading Xcode and the Android SDK:

First time downloading Xcode?

If you get an error when trying to install or launch Platino, then you need to launch Xcode once and accept the license agreement. I would install Xcode and launch it once before installing Platino. This is how 95% or more of us are setup, but it could save others headaches.

Java 6

Most of us have this (legacy) version installed already, but if you don’t you will get a popup prompting you to install it. It’s a very simple package, just like the popup for Platino Studio. (Not the terminal.) Go ahead and follow the prompts and you’ll be able to launch Platino.

Stay tuned – I had to go on hiatus here for a bit while we pushed to get Platino Studio complete; it was a LOT of work for the team, and I would have had to rewrite everything to be in line with where we are now – but now we’re here, I’ve got some stuff already written to start introducing everyone to Platino, Javascript and mobile development in general.

As always please share your thoughts, requests, etc. here, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
